Prior to my supposed free lesson, I signed in to make sure that my settings were all set for the session. I signed in to start the session and was surprised that the system had a notice stating, "checking your Java settings". It then required a download to interact with the tutor. After I did all of this, it asked me to do it again. Then it required me to install their software. I finally opted to go into the session without the "required" downloads, and the tutor had left. I was told they tried to contact me and that she waited 15 minutes. I don't believe both statements. When I received email confirmation, nothing was said about downloading software before being allowed in. Secondly, after I got in, I had to download software to speak to someone who was called "the tutor" who was actually a customer service rep. He tried to sell me a session, stating that the tutor had left. I feel that this was bait and switch. Also, the "free" session is only 15 minutes--they don't advertise that either. I asked who the tutor was who had been in the room and departed, and I was told that they were random tutors--why was the rep unable to give me a name? I don't believe there was a tutor in the room--ever. I loaded all kinds of junk on to my computer for a 15 minute session from India. I was told that it was 5 AM there. I spend lots of money on online tutors but will not be doing so here--don't stonewall people from joining the session--they had to see I was logged in--and then have the tutor disappear (a mystery one at that). The guy I spoke to did not even know what subject I wanted to cover and I had sent detailed info. What a complete waste of time. If this is the way they treat you the first time, I can't imagine how they treat you once they have you reeled in. Don't require people to make substantial additions to their software and then leave.
In summary, I would not recommend eTutorWorld to a friend.
